Montek Singh Ahluwalia

Montek Singh Ahluwalia is an Indian economist and civil servant who was the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India, a position which carried the rank of a Cabinet Minister. He was previously the first Director of the Independent Evaluation Office at the International Monetary Fund.

 

  • 1943-Born in Rawalpindi.

  • 1968-Joined the World Bank (Youngest Division Chief).

  • 1979-Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Finance, India.

  • 1998-Member of the Planning Commission, India.

  • 2001-Director of the Independent Evaluation Office, IMF.

  • 2004-Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, India.
